In 1988, Robinson’s Land Corporation (RLC) commissioned SMDI to conduct a traffic impact study to formulate workable solutions and countermeasures to promote smooth and accident-free traffic flow around the proposed 5.4 hectare Robinsons Galleria. It is situated on the northern portion of Ortigas Center, one of the fastest rising Central Business District (CBD) in the Philippines. Then in 1999, in view of the dynamic development being undertaken at the Robinson’s Galleria property, more specifically the development of the Condotel and the PCI Bank Tower, SMDI’s study team drew up a traffic operations and management plan providing specific solutions/schemes to address the identified mobility problems in the study area.
