With the entry of large developments in the 90s in the Ortigas Center and its adjoining areas, some sectors have raised concerns over the existing road network, traffic and transportation systems to be abreast with the upsurge of growth in the area.
In addressing these concerns which have started to threaten the attractiveness of the center, Philippine Realty & Holdings Corporation has taken the initiative by commissioning SMDI in 1994 to conduct a traffic and parking study for a proposed commercial car park building, to rise in the open parking area, fronting the Philippine Stock Exchange Centre.
The objectives of the study were to: a) determine the existing traffic characters of the study area; b) evaluate the impact of the proposed commercial car park building onto the immediate surrounding road network; c) establish the level of future parking demand of the study area; and d) recommend traffic management/control measures to alleviate congestion in the vicinity of the project area.
