Regional Tourism Master Plan for Northern Mindanao (1997)

Location: Bukidnon, Camiguin, Misamis Oriental and Occidental

This study was conducted in 1997 by Lopez Osabel & Associates, in association with SMDI, in response to the Terms of Reference (TOR) embodied in the contract for consultancy.

The geographical coverage of the Master Plan included the provinces of Bukidnon, Camiguin, Misamis Occidental and Misamis Oriental and the cities situated therein. Region X is endowed with diverse and abundant natural and socio-cultural resources with unique attractions. Hence, the need to promote and establish the importance of the region as a key tourist destination.

The Regional Tourism Master Plan for Region X was envisaged then to provide the logical process for the development of the tourism industry, anchoring on the proper utilization of ecotourism assets and resources. The proposed Master Plan manifested the importance of tourism in achieving a sustainable level of development to serve as catalyst to socio-economic growth and provide benchmark information for the succeeding levels of planning.
