SMDI and PTV Group Asia-Pacific participated in the EASTS Conference as a sponsor last September 11-14, 2015 held in Radisson Blu Hotel, Cebu, Philippines. EASTS is an ‘international biennial conference aimed at fostering excellent transportation research and practice. The interchange of knowledge in all aspects and mode of transportation that takes place at the conference is valuable in upgrading and expanding the pool of experts who are expected to formulate and implement transportation development programs in the region’.
EASTS’ aim is ‘to continue the promotion of high quality research on transportation throughout East Asia. The conference is committed to produce quality academic and practical papers, from the various member domestic societies. The 2015 conference theme of “Resilient and Inclusive Transportation Systems through Smarter Mobility,” was aimed to highlight solutions from a variety of research initiatives across the region that address the current issues regarding transportation. These include innovations and best practices, as well as systems and processes that can be adapted to local conditions’.
The event was hosted by The Transportation Science Society of the Philippines (TSSP), an exclusive organization of experts in various fields of transportation, formed because existing professional associations cover specific disciplines and do not address the multi-disciplinary nature of transportation.
