October 22, 2021: Council of Engineering Consultants of the Philippines (CECOPHIL) Young Professionals Forum (YPF) organized a webinar to introduce state-of-the-art technologies used by its member firms in advancing the quality of engineering studies. Mr. Shoji Koike of Synspective Inc. of Japan started with a presentation entitled “Satellite Land Displacement Monitoring for Geohazard Mitigation”. This technology harnesses the power of satellites to develop high-quality data for disaster risk assessments. This was followed by “Vehicular and Pedestrian Simulation Applications in Infrastructure Planning” presented by Ms. Merceditas V. Tuazon and Engr. Abigail S. Viray of SMDI Consultants Inc. This presentation demonstrated the best use-cases of traffic microsimulation (using PTV Vissim and Viswalk) to evaluate the various options in planning for infrastructure projects.
